Pippa Jones at Romanby Primary School applied for a grant to build a stage after an e mail I sent out in December about grant funding for outside areas. I was thrilled when she contacted me to say she’s won £12,000 in funding to build a stage. The results speak for themselves.
Here’s how she did it.
Outdoor Stage
It all started in December last year.
Dear Therese,
I’d like to express a huge ‘Thank you’ to you for sending your email of 12th December advising us of the funding offered by Tesco for outdoor spaces. Following your email we made an application and I am delighted to let you know that we have won the top prize of £12,000 to use for our Outdoor Stage and Performance Area Project. We are all very excited about the project.
Thank you again and I’ll send you details when the project is finished.

When Pippa sent me this e mail with pictures, I was even more excited!
‘Dear Therese,
I thought you might like to see the progress we are making on our stage, which has finally begun after a lot of paperwork completed by Mr Wake!
We are very grateful to you for making us aware of the scheme through your newsletter, or none of this would have ever happened.’
Here’s a picture of the amazing achievement.

…and another e mail said:
‘Just finished today!! We used a local builder (who happens to be parent from school – so community businesses have benefited also!) Thank you again. Pippa’
I spoke to Pippa this week and she told me theu are using it for so many things including playtimes, for music and dance, curriculum work, as a stage to present awards on sports day, talent shows, summer fair.
You too could achieve this through applying for grants.
Pippa applied for the Tesco outdoor space grant and won £12,000!
