What To Do
This game is similar to Hide and Seek except that the player who is ‘it’ has a base (such as a tree or post) to which the other players must return, ideally without being caught.
Firstly choose someone to be ‘it’. They count to 40 while everyone else goes away and hides.
If ‘it’ sees a player who is hiding or coming out of hiding they touch the home base and shout, ‘40/40 I see… (name of the person who they’ve just seen),’ before that player reaches the base.
If they name that person then they are ‘out’ and remain at the home base.
The only way the players can save themselves is to get to the home base first and shout, ‘40/40 home.’
The children can also run to the base and say, ‘40/40 save all,’ which means that all the caught players are free and the game starts again.
If the person who is ‘it’ catches everyone then the person who was ‘out’ first will now be ‘it’ and the game continues.
